Reef Damage
(April 6,2003)

On 04-06-03 Vone Research continued its monitoring of the coral restoration project. We went out in search of an area reported to us by Capt. Frank Schmidt. He had reported seeing reef damage that was possibly missed during the video survey conducted by CSI. The damage was coducisve with a cable drag and dredge teeth were also seen in the vicinity. Unfortunately due to a mechanical problem with the research vessel we were unable to conduct a thorough search.
On April 10th, 2003 we returned to the area. Using ranges and depth measurements supplied by Capt. Schmidt we once again searched for the damage. Although unable to locate the significant damage that was reported, we did find a small area of minor damage consisting of several severed sponges which are regenorating.
We plan on having the research vessel on site, 04-13-03 to continue searching for the reported damage.
